The Public Utility Levy (PUL) fees are for the management of commercial, Industrial, medical and residential solid and liquid waste, wastewater, and environmental intervention for Lagos State, and not additional tax. The PUL will shore up the environmental utilities, in order to immediately address the chronic funding gaps that continue to plague Lagos’ growth and development plans.
The Public Utilities Monitoring and Assurance Unit (PUMAU), under the Ministry of Environment, will oversee the generation and collection of the PUL.
The charges will be based on property size. The property tiers are as follows:
- Property Under 700m²
- Property Between 700m² – 1000m²
- Property Greater than 1000m²
Each property will receive an annual PUL fee that is payable monthly, quarterly or annually, at the discretion of the property owner.
